2023 Bright Leaf Hoedown

The Caswell County Chamber Board of Directors and I are happy to welcome you to the 2023 Bright Leaf Hoedown.
At this festival, we are happy to share with you a peek at our wonderful rural and agriculturally based community. Within the ever-changing world around us, there is an air of growth. While we are here to celebrate the time of year where it would traditionally be the end of the harvest season, there is so much to celebrate in addition to that! As you’re out in the county this time of year, you will see some tobacco and crops like corn, soybeans, and wheat ready to be harvested. Other farms are all around us as well – with a variety of livestock, fresh produce, and various fruits of labor. If you’re ever curious about what this may look like, I encourage you to check out the Farmer’s Market during the summer season every year!
The Chamber attended the Caswell County Local Foods Council Farmer’s Market each week this summer, partnering with our local Visitor Center, and these visits provided supportive confirmation of new farmers coming into Caswell, the many things that are bountiful in our county, and the community that can be found in these spaces. Whether farmers selling their offerings at the Farmer's Market or new visitors coming to the market to purchase the goods from farmers, there are increasingly more of them here. These farmers may not be the traditional row crop type of landowners native residents tend to refer to as ‘farmers’, but the phenomenon of the increase in small farmers, new farmers, and female farmers is alive and well in Caswell. It is comforting to know that there is a verified population of new farmers moving into our county that can help to maintain the rural landscape here.
The Hoedown is a way to showcase these farms and farmers, the community nonprofit organizations, and small businesses and entrepreneurs that make our community work. The Chamber is honored to help facilitate this environment where both buyers and sellers can connect, have fun, partake in great local food, enjoy music, and experience community in Caswell. As a nonprofit ourselves, the Chamber strives to make sure all can feel welcome and thrive within our wonderful community. Enjoy!
