A Sista's Touch

This new business in the community is called Sista’s Touch Salon. Growing up with brothers, I’ve often wondered what it would be like to have a sister.  Although there are friendships that have provided a glimpse of what it is like to have a sister, to see two real life sisters making a go of it, is a really special thing.

Meet Pennie Allen and Stephanie Morrow. These two sisters grew up here in Caswell County.  They are experienced hairdressers and chose Caswell County to be the home of their new business located in the formerly Today’s Hair salon by the Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant.  ‘We chose Caswell County because it is our home and we feel it is important to give back to our community’, says co-owner Pennie Allen.

The sisters purchased the business and rebranded it Sista’s Touch earlier this year.  Their salon features four stylists providing a wide array of services including natural hair services, weaves, crochets, relaxers, curly perms, protein treatments, haircuts, silk wraps, color and more.  When you step inside the shop, you almost forget you are in a strip mall center.  The rich and bold colors inside complemented with tasteful décor items gives the salon a stylish, yet comfortable feel.

The business plans the sisters have in place call for monthly promotions to help increase the traffic of customers.  These include raffles for free services and discounts for senior citizens.  Of particular interest of the ladies, is a program to provide scholarships for the community. Both sisters have pages on Facebook.

What makes Sista’s Touch unique from other salons is that we believe each person who walks through our door is a person of value and worth; no matter who you are or where you come from. Allen shared.  She stated, ‘We strive to touch each one of our customers in the most positive way....as your own sister would.  It’s our goal for each person to leave the shop looking and feeling much better than when they came in. It’s very personal to us.’

The sisters shared a story of one specific example of this.  There was a customer that came in one day.  When the stylist was done, the customer looked into the mirror and burst into tears.  Each person in the salon stopped to look and see what the matter was.  The customer smiled with gratitude and shared that she felt so beautiful and that this was the first time she had ever gotten her hair done in a salon.  She had not ever felt good about herself until that day when she saw herself in a completely new and beautiful way. The Sista’s Touch indeed touched this woman and her eyes were opened to her own personal beauty.

There are things that only sisters can experience together, however, being a true sister to anyone who walks through their doors is a true gift that this group of talented ladies at Sista’s Touch Salon provide their community.  The next time you are seeking a stylist, please consider Sista’s Touch Salon.  It is located at 1142 NC Highway 86N, Yanceyville, NC  27379.  Hours are Monday – Friday 9:00 am – 6:00 pm.  Saturdays 8:00 am – 2:00 pm.
