Blueberries, flowers, salves and more…

Meet Selena Thornton.  A mother, event planner, farmer, entrepreneur and Chamber Member.  For 19 years Selena has been working the family farm in Pelham specializing in organic blueberries.  She and her family have one of the largest acreage of blueberries in the county and sell their produce at the Caswell County Farmers Market.  Flowers are also a part of the farm and Selena often provides them as part of her event planning service that she offers.

As with many entrepreneurs, Selena developed an additional business out of necessity when she discovered that her sons Immanuel and Isaiah had extremely sensitive skin.  Over the counter medications were to no avail.  Her grandparents shared a couple of home remedies and they have been successful at providing relief.  From there, an idea was born.  After attending a conference to learn more, Selena and was inspired to begin to make her own teas, skincare products and healing salves branded as the Supernatural Flower Farm.

As an avid advocate for female farmers, this fall, Diva in the Dirt, will be launched.  This is a platform for female farmers that make natural products to come together to share ideas and collaborate.  Plans are in the works for a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) model wherein you can purchase a selection of these items from local farmers on a regular basis.

With a master’s in legal studies earned from Trinity Law School in 2019, Selena has been active in other areas of the Caswell community too.  She is on the board of directors of Piedmont Progressive Farmers Group and is also on the Chamber of Commerce board. In addition, she is a member of the Piedmont Community College Alumni Partnership Board and is being named the Alumnus of the year this week. And if that is not enough, Selena also has a ministry called W.I.S.E Movement dedicated to ministering to the soul, heart and  mind of women in business and functions as a barter broker network in assisting them find direction in making their dreams come true.

Inspired by her sons, nieces and nephews she strives to teach them her philosophy of ‘leaving the world better off than you found it’. Her goal is to leave an impactful legacy where they and others might be inspired to rise up, proclaim being blessed while being a blessing to others.  She strives to live Proverbs 31 daily.
